He had been a resident of the Buffalo Valley area for the past 15 years. She was the widow of Rex Curtis DENTON. Dennis was born Aug. 23, 1924 in Adair County, Oklahoma, the son of William and Annie PUMPKIN PRITCHETT and died Monday, Feb. 23, 1998 in Tahlequah, Okla. A welder with N. U for 23 years he retired in 1987. She is survived by: one daughter, Mary; four grandsons; two granddaughters; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. He was a deputy sheriff for Adair County for several years, and was also a private security officer. Newman Lee BRIGGS, son of John COOMBES and Mary Mae FOURKILLER COOMBES, was born Oct. 30, 1941 in Stilwell, Okla., and departed this life to be with his Lord after a lengthy illness at Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith, Ark., on March 3, 1998 at the age of 56 years, 4 months and 2 days. Leah was a vibrant, loving and compassionate young lady that loved and lived life to its fullest. He died Wednesday, April 22, at Memorial Hospital in Stilwell. He and his wife were parents to over 200 foster children for over 25 years in Mecklenburg County. She died Wednesday, May 6, at St. Edward's Mercy Medical Center in Ft. She was a music teacher and concert pianist and was an Episcopalian. He is survived by: two sons, Jesse, Jr. of Okla., and Curtis of N. ; three daughters, Kathy of Okla., Dorothy of Mo., and Linda Sue of N. ; his mother Sallie of Okla. ; three sisters, Rebecca, Susie and Sarah, all of Okla. ; 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 28, at the Fairfield Baptist Church, and interment followed at the Fairfield Cemetery under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
