I'm surprised by how shockingly GOOD this book is! There were some parts of The Shadow Man that I found confusing but everything was revealed by the end of the book. He dies minutes later. The foetus, now named Aurora is in the hands of someone unknown, with a massive ransom that must be paid in short order. Even though the Shadow Man is planning to kidnap with meticulously researched precision, it doesn't stop the death toll mounting with collateral damage. This book is not for the faint of heart!
After another young woman is found butchered, Luc and Ava realise the babydoll killer is playing a horrifying game. The tension accelerated near the end with much dread and concern for all the characters involved. There were parts that were slow - but I am glad I hung in there as the ending makes up for it. Having left behind a promising career at Interpol, he's eager to prove himself to his new team. Woodwine and Baarda begin to piece things together, though extremely slowly. Elspeth, Meggie, and Xavier are stuck in a flat together. The story never dragged, I cannot recommend this highly enough. Because I don't wanna read about some ghost holding people captive, that's more ridiculous than saying a kale smoothie tastes good.
